Project details

The Dubai Cinema Door

This extraordinary pivot door forms part of a three-dimensional marble wall defining the bar area of a bespoke penthouse at W Residences, The Palm Jumeirah. Within this sculptural composition, two hidden pivot doors are concealed: a smaller one leading to the powder room and the main feature door, which opens to the cinema, presented here.

The wall’s striking depth is not carved but created by joining travertine slabs at varying angles, producing a subtle play of light, shadow, and texture. The result is a continuous 3D surface where the door becomes indistinguishable from the wall itself.

Weighing nearly 500 kg, the travertine pivot door moves effortlessly thanks to FritsJurgens System One and Top Pivot 70. The precision of the pivot system allows the massive marble panel to pivot with lightness and grace, appearing to float within the architecture.

A collaboration between Worldesignteam, Joinery Concept 5, and Sital Marble, this project unites artistry, innovation, and engineering; a seamless expression of balance between mass and movement.
