House of Faith
A six-meter-high sculptural portal marks the entrance to this multigenerational home, serving as a threshold that carries both architectural and spiritual significance. Crafted from solid Chengal timber within a galvanised steel frame, the 500-kilogram door pivots effortlessly on FritsJurgens System M+, balancing monumental weight with precise, fluid motion.
What began as a simple slot window evolved into a powerful geometric form inspired by the Christian cross, reflecting the family’s deep faith. Drawing on the grandeur of European cathedrals, the double-height design evokes reverence and permanence, while a smaller “door-within-a-door” offers a practical entrance for everyday use.
A symbol of devotion, craftsmanship and control, realised through movement.
