Project details

TAD Entry Portal

At the heart of TAD’s New York studio, the Entry Portal reimagines the pivot door as a living, digital experience. This collaborative design by TAD and Model.Practice was produced in a joint effort by various experts, led by DetaiLED as the primary manufacturer.

This pair of large-scale pivot doors transforms from a static partition into an immersive LED surface, a programmable canvas that responds to context, mood, and events.

Clad in 42 high-resolution LED panels, the doors display ambient visuals, data, or live content, turning the threshold itself into a medium of communication. From architectural calm to visual spectacle, they shift seamlessly between functions, reflecting TAD’s ethos of merging technology, design, and human interaction.

Despite their 360 kg combined weight, the doors move effortlessly thanks to FritsJurgens System One. The invisible hinge technology allows for perfect balance and smooth, weightless motion, ensuring that even a highly complex assembly of aluminium, steel, and electronics performs with refined precision.

More than an entryway, the TAD Portal serves as an adaptive interface; an architectural gesture that seamlessly connects people, place, and digital narrative in one continuous movement.
